A. Boehringer, Blüthenkränze in Poesie und Prosa, aus dem Leben des deutschen Improvisators
In this self-published autobiography, Boehringer (b. 1792), a medical student, narrates his travels throughout Europe and his attempts to become a poet. Inspired by O. L. B. Wolff’s performances in Berlin and encouraged by Julius von Voss, he tries to achieve success as a travelling German improvisatore. Driven by poverty, he publishes his improvised poetry under the titles Märchen und Erzählungen (1820), Blüthen und Blätter (1822), and Stegreif-Dichtungen (1825).
